Cristiano Ronaldo is making headlines as a genuine playable fighter in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, marking one of the most unexpected guest character appearances in recent fighting game history. Widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time alongside Lionel Messi, Ronaldo joins the game’s launch roster, bringing his legendary status to the competitive arena.
Developed and published by SNK Corporation, the game recently unveiled a trailer showcasing Ronaldo’s transformation into the game’s comic-inspired art style. Fans will recognize his iconic football-inspired moves, such as the "Headed Clearance" and sliding tackles, while his signature "Siuuu" celebration adds a touch of authenticity. Although Ronaldo didn’t lend his voice, Juan Felipe Sierra took on the role of providing his character’s dialogue.
Here’s the official description of Ronaldo’s in-game persona:
One of the top football players in the world. He takes time off from his career to visit South Town, where he hones his skills in a unique blend of football and fighting techniques. His innovative methods make him a formidable opponent, even for seasoned fighters.
At 40 years old, Ronaldo remains active as a forward for Al Nassr FC, a professional football club in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, part of the Saudi Pro League. The club is majority-owned by the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF), led by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Interestingly, SNK is now largely owned by the Crown Prince’s foundation.
Set to release on April 24, 2025, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves promises a dynamic visual style, returning favorites, and revamped battle mechanics. Stay tuned for more updates as this unlikely collaboration unfolds.
