Toby Fox, creator of Undertale, has shared new details about the ongoing testing for Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4. The update reveals key information about console testing and what players can anticipate from these upcoming installments.
Deltarune's Console Testing Progresses Successfully
Save Data Will Transfer Between Chapters
On his official Bluesky account, Toby Fox confirmed that console testing is progressing well, though significant work remains. The team is implementing a long-awaited feature - the ability to transfer saves from the demo (Chapters 1-2) to the full release. "Still console testing. There are fewer bugs, but there's a lot to go through. (Haven't even tested PS5 yet)," Fox noted before adding their excitement about recently acquiring the technology for save transfers: "I hope it works!"
With beta testing showing positive results, the anticipated 2025 release for Chapters 3 and 4 appears on track according to Fox's previous confirmation.
New Character 'Tenna' Confirmed for Chapter 3
Despite the heavy development workload, Fox continues entertaining fans with humorous updates. Known for his internet-savvy personality, he recently shared: "I showed my family and friends a minigame I've been working on for DR (Deltarune) and they all described it as 'a cry for help because your game is not out.'"
While some fans speculate this minigame might be destined for Chapter 5 (Deltarune's planned final chapter count is seven), the post's most intriguing revelation involved a mysterious new character. Fox shared an anecdote: "Same friend who played Chapter 3 like over a year ago also told me 'I miss Tenna' and I was like 'man that's something no one in the world has ever said huh.'"
Tenna first appeared during Deltarune's 2022 Spamton Sweepstakes charity event but hasn't been seen publicly since. Fox's comments confirm this enigmatic character will debut properly in Chapter 3.
As the spiritual successor to Undertale, Deltarune builds upon its predecessor's unique mechanics while introducing fresh adventures with new protagonist Kris and companions Susie and Ralsei in their world-saving journey.
