Donkey Kong Bananza Nears Launch with Exciting Developments
Switch 2 Kiosks Now Feature Playable Demo

As Donkey Kong Bananza prepares for its July launch, Switch 2 demo kiosks have appeared nationwide in stores like Walmart and Target. Reddit user ZiaMonic231 reported on June 20 that these kiosks now offer hands-on access to DK Bananza gameplay.
The demo provides about 10 minutes of playtime using Nintendo's new Pro controller. This early access has fans speculating about a potential surprise eShop demo release for Switch 2 owners.
Nintendo hasn't officially confirmed an eShop demo. Historically, major Nintendo titles like Super Mario and Legend of Zelda games rarely receive digital demos. Despite this, enthusiasts remain optimistic about trying Bananza early through the kiosk program.
Could This Be a Super Mario Odyssey Prequel?

The June 18 DK Bananza Direct revealed Pauline's age through the Japanese website, sparking timeline questions regarding her connection to Super Mario Odyssey.
Pauline's Bananza profile describes her as "a 13-year-old aspiring singer transported to the underworld and petrified." This contrasts with her Odyssey portrayal as New Donk City's adult mayor and bandleader.
The storyline suggests Bananza may precede Odyssey, chronicling DK's quest to return Pauline to the surface world. Given their traditional antagonist relationship since the arcade era, fans are eager to see how Bananza might reshape this dynamic.
DK Rap Composer Surprised by Song's Inclusion

The DK Bananza Direct confirmed the return of the famous DK Rap, surprising even its creator. Composer Grant Kirkhope told Eurogamer on June 19: "The world's most controversial rap track makes its comeback!"
Kirkhope expressed amazement at the song's current popularity, remembering its initial mixed reception during DK64's release. He joked, "My legacy? 'Grant Kirkhope - creator of the DK Rap and Goldeneye pause music.' That sums it up!"

The composer won't receive credit for the song's appearance, continuing a pattern that began with its uncredited use in 2023's Super Mario Bros. Movie. Kirkhope revealed Nintendo's reasoning: "They credited vocal tracks unless they owned the rights fully, which became the deciding factor."

With music playing a central role in DK's transformations, the DK Rap's inclusion was inevitable. Bananza will also feature a music player for enjoying Pauline's songs and other game tracks.
