While the Like a Dragon series is renowned for its comedic elements, director Masayoshi Yokoyama reveals a more serious side to Majima in this iteration, particularly at the story's outset. Producer Ryosuke Horii emphasizes the "manly drama" at the core of the game, highlighting Majima's passionate pursuit of his goals and the bonds he forges along the way. He clarifies that while the game features its share of comedic detours, the narrative centers on a passionate individual's journey.
Horii further explains that Majima possesses a unique quality absent in series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu, making him the ideal lead for this particular adventure. The team aimed for a balance between the game's pirate setting, Majima's personality, and the core Like a Dragon experience, a challenge they embraced to create varied and engaging action. Majima's Maji Festival: A Nationwide Celebration
To celebrate the game's launch, RGG Studio is hosting Majima's Maji Festival in six Japanese cities. The tour, which began in Sapporo on December 1st, 2024, concludes in Nagoya (January 18th) and Tokyo (January 25th).
