Helldivers 2 Players Return to Defend Malevelon Creek

Author : Hunter Jun 19,2025

It seems the developers at Arrowhead Studios are never short on a darkly nostalgic sense of humor. Just one year after the infamous liberation of Malevelon Creek, *Helldivers 2* is sending players back to that very same planet—this time to defend it against an overwhelming surge of Automaton forces.

Following a recent failed Major Order, concerns began circulating about a potential return to Malevelon Creek. Reports indicated that the Automatons, now bolstered by their deadly new Incineration Corps, had set their sights on the Severin Sector. This region, and especially Malevelon Creek, holds a special place in the collective memory of *Helldivers 2* players. It was here that one of the game’s earliest and most intense cooperative efforts took place, as players rallied together to keep the Creek under Super Earth control.

The dense jungle terrain combined with relentless enemy waves earned Malevelon Creek nicknames like “Robot Vietnam.” After a grueling campaign, the Helldivers successfully secured the area. In recognition of this pivotal battle, Arrowhead released a commemorative cape for players who participated.

Now, over the weekend, a newly announced Major Order confirmed what many feared (and secretly hoped): Helldivers are returning to Malevelon Creek. The Automaton offensive, led by the Incineration Corps, has already begun its push toward the Creek, with skirmishes and invasions erupting across the sector.

According to the in-game briefing, Super Earth is calling upon all available Helldivers to protect the final resting place of fallen comrades—referred to affectionately as "Creekers"—to prevent what would be the greatest act of digital desecration during the upcoming Malevelon Creek Memorial Day.

Needless to say, the player community is buzzing with excitement. The subreddit has been flooded with memes drawing comparisons to everything from *Starship Troopers* to the *Doom Slayer*, and even a few references to *Delicious in Dungeon*. Veterans who remember the original fight are preparing themselves for round two—complete with swarms of bots and laser-filled skies.

Even newer players, who joined after the initial battle, are eager to experience one of the game's most iconic locations. These large-scale communal events are what make *Helldivers 2* truly special—moments where players log in together, unite around shared goals, and help shape the evolving story of the game world.

Of course, some players believe Arrowhead may still be holding back. While current defensive operations appear to be going smoothly and Malevelon Creek remains secure, there are still five days left in the Major Order. Teams are focusing on specific objectives as the sector continues to be a hotspot for Automaton activity. Watching these events unfold in real-time is not only thrilling but promises to make this week one of the most memorable yet for *Helldivers 2* fans.
