The Lenovo Legion Go stands out as a Windows-powered gaming handheld equipped with an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU featuring Radeon graphics and 16GB RAM - matching the specs of the $700 Asus ROG Ally Z1 Extreme and ROG Ally X. It features a superior 8.8" 2560x1600 144Hz IPS touchscreen and Switch-like detachable controllers. Running Windows 11, it's compatible with major gaming platforms including Steam, Epic Games, and Xbox Game Pass.
In her Lenovo Legion Go review, Jacqueline Thomas noted: "This currently tops the handheld PC market in display quality, performance, and design, though with some considerations. While the 1600p screen occasionally challenges the hardware, requiring settings adjustments for optimal gameplay, the trade-off brings Windows compatibility and premium features absent in the Steam Deck OLED. If you value Switch-style versatility with PC-grade power, this is your ideal choice."
Following this review, the $899.99 Asus ROG Ally X entered the market as direct competition, though at a $400 premium over the Legion Go. The Legion Go remains the superior value proposition.
For prospective buyers, we recommend complementing your purchase with a portable charger and microSD card. While our Steam Deck vs ROG Ally comparison doesn't include the Legion Go, it provides valuable insights into SteamOS versus Windows handheld differences.
