Marvel Is Exploring Ways to Reunite The Defenders

Author : Daniel Feb 27,2025

Daredevil's highly anticipated next season is on the horizon, and the creative team is already contemplating future storylines, potentially including a Defenders reunion.

In a recent EW profile, Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios' head of streaming and TV, expressed keen interest in reuniting the street-level heroes of Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist—the Defenders.

While no concrete plans exist, Winderbaum stated to EW, "The potential to work within that established universe is incredibly exciting… However, unlike comic books, our resources are finite. We're constrained by factors like actor availability, scheduling, and the immense production demands of building a cinematic universe, particularly for television."

He continued, "Despite these limitations, the creative possibilities are truly thrilling, and we're actively exploring them."

PlayDaredevil: Born Again will directly continue the Netflix Daredevil storyline. Netflix previously hosted a smaller-scale Marvel universe featuring Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage. Winderbaum's comments suggest that Daredevil: Born Again could serve as a springboard to reintroduce these characters within Disney's MCU framework on Disney+. The inclusion of Jon Bernthal's Punisher in the new season further supports this possibility, marking another successful transition of a Netflix character.

The upcoming premiere of Daredevil: Born Again on March 4th will provide crucial context before further speculation on its potential connection to the broader MCU.
