Nexon Shuts Down KartRider: Drift Globally

Nexon has announced the upcoming shutdown of the global version of KartRider: Drift, a game that initially launched in January 2023 across mobile, console, and PC platforms. Unfortunately, players worldwide will have to bid farewell to the game later this year as it will be discontinued on all platforms globally.

Is It Shutting Down Its Asian Servers As Well?

Fortunately, the Asian servers of KartRider: Drift in Taiwan and South Korea will continue to operate. These servers are set to undergo a significant update soon, though Nexon has not yet disclosed the specifics of these changes. Additionally, there has been no mention of a potential relaunch for the global version at this time.

For those curious about the exact date of the global shutdown, Nexon has not provided that information yet. However, the game remains available on the Google Play Store, offering players a chance to experience it before it's too late.

Why Did Nexon Announce KartRider: Drift Global Shutdown?

Since its launch, KartRider: Drift aimed to deliver a seamless experience for its global audience. Despite these efforts, the game faced significant challenges. Players reported dissatisfaction with the game's heavy reliance on automation, which many felt reduced the racing experience to a monotonous grind. Additionally, technical issues such as poor optimization on some Android devices and numerous bugs further hampered the game's reception. These factors contributed to the decision to shut down the global version.

Moving forward, Nexon is redirecting its focus to the PC platform in Korea and Taiwan, with hopes of revitalizing the game's original vision and achieving greater success.
