Nintendo Announces Wider Release Date for Alarmo

Summary

• Nintendo's Alarmo alarm clock will be available at retailers in March 2025.
• Alarmo initially faced purchase restrictions due to high demand in Japan, now available for pre-order there.
• Mixed reactions to Alarmo release among fans, some prefer news on Nintendo Switch 2 and upcoming games.

Nintendo's popular Alarmo alarm clock is set to hit store shelves in March 2025. Since its initial launch as an exclusive on Nintendo's website, anticipation for the retail release of the Nintendo Alarmo has been building.

The announcement of Alarmo came as a surprise, with no prior hints or teasers from Nintendo. Despite this, the Nintendo Alarmo quickly became a hit. High demand led to initial purchase restrictions, limiting the number of units a single buyer could purchase. In Japan, the demand was so intense that sales were further restricted to a lottery system.

Now, Nintendo has confirmed that Alarmo will be available at standard retailers starting in March 2025, with no purchase limits. While specific dates and a list of retailers are yet to be announced, fans can expect to find Alarmo at major stores like Target, Walmart, and GameStop, where Nintendo products are typically sold. For those eager to get their hands on Alarmo sooner, it is currently available for purchase on Nintendo's official website, requiring an NSO account.

Nintendo Fans Share Mixed Opinions on Alarmo Availability

The announcement of Alarmo's broader availability has elicited a range of reactions from the Nintendo community. Many fans have expressed disappointment, hoping instead for news about the Nintendo Switch 2. Despite numerous leaks, Nintendo has remained largely silent about their next console. While Alarmo is an interesting novelty, it's not a gaming device, and the fanbase is eager for updates on new consoles and upcoming games.

The situation in Japan adds another layer of complexity. In December 2024, due to Alarmo's immense popularity, Nintendo shifted from a lottery system to standard pre-orders. However, these pre-orders won't be fulfilled until February, and general retail availability in Japan has been postponed to a later, unspecified date. It's unclear whether this delay is due to supply issues specific to Japan or part of Nintendo's strategy to manage global demand for the Alarmo alarm clock.
