Author : Olivia May 03,2025

The long-awaited details about Nintendo's next-generation console, the Nintendo Switch 2, have finally been revealed, and they surpass many of the expectations set by fans and analysts alike. The system boasts impressive capabilities, including support for up to 120fps and 4K resolution when docked, marking a significant upgrade over its predecessor.

PlayDuring today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo showcased several key features of the new console. The Nintendo Switch 2 comes equipped with a larger 7.9-inch screen, maintaining the same thickness of 13.9mm as the original Switch but doubling the pixel count. This allows for a stunning 1080p display in handheld mode at up to 120fps. The screen is an LCD with HDR support, and when docked, it can deliver visuals in up to 4K resolution with HDR.

The Joy-Con 2 controllers feature a magnetic connection system and can be detached with a simple press of a release button located on the back. The SL and SR buttons on the sides are larger, enhancing the comfort and ease of playing in horizontal mode. Additionally, the left and right analog sticks are also bigger. A notable addition is the introduction of mouse control support within the Joy-Con controllers, expanding the ways players can interact with games.

The Nintendo Switch 2's handheld mode includes a built-in microphone with noise-canceling technology and supports 3D audio for compatible games, promising an immersive audio experience. The console also features a more robust and adjustable stand compared to the original Switch, allowing for varied viewing angles. A top USB port is available for connecting an external camera or for charging the system while in tabletop mode.

In terms of storage, the Nintendo Switch 2 comes with 256GB of internal storage, offering ample space for games and applications.
