Palworld Switch Release Unlikely Due to Technical Challenges, Not Pokemon Competition
While a Nintendo Switch version of Palworld isn't entirely off the table, Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe has voiced concerns regarding the technical hurdles involved in porting the game.

Technical Challenges Hinder Palworld's Switch Port
No Concrete Plans from Developer Pocketpair
In a recent interview, Mizobe discussed the difficulties of bringing Palworld to the Switch, hinting at the game's future direction. While a Switch release hasn't been ruled out, technical challenges remain a significant concern. Discussions about new platforms are ongoing, but Pocketpair currently has no announcements to make.
The demanding PC specifications pose a considerable challenge for a Switch port. However, Mizobe remains optimistic about expanding Palworld's reach to more players. He previously stated that the PC version's higher specifications make a direct port difficult.
Future platform availability remains unconfirmed, with no specifics on potential releases for PlayStation, other Nintendo consoles, or mobile devices. Earlier this year, Mizobe confirmed discussions about bringing the game to additional platforms. He also clarified that while Pocketpair is open to partnerships or acquisitions, they haven't engaged in buyout discussions with Microsoft.
Aiming for Enhanced Multiplayer, Inspired by 'Ark' and 'Rust'
Beyond platform considerations, Mizobe revealed aspirations for enhanced multiplayer features. An upcoming arena mode, described as an experiment, will pave the way for more extensive multiplayer experiences. Mizobe expressed a desire for a full PvP mode, drawing inspiration from the popular survival games Ark and Rust, known for their challenging environments, resource management, and player interaction, including alliances and tribes.
Palworld, Pocketpair's creature-collecting and survival shooter, has achieved remarkable success since its launch. The ability to capture Pals, build bases, and fight for survival has resonated strongly with gamers.
The game enjoyed a phenomenal launch, selling 15 million copies on PC in its first month and attracting 10 million players on Xbox via Game Pass. A major update, the free Sakurajima update, is launching Thursday, introducing a new island, the highly anticipated PvP arena, and more.
