Pokémon Company Tackles TCG Shortages, Scalpers Post-Destined Rivals Launch

Author : Zachary May 14,2025

The Pokémon Company has recently taken steps to address the persistent challenges fans face when trying to purchase the latest Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) sets. In a detailed statement released on their official site, the company acknowledged the difficulties many have encountered, particularly with the highly sought-after Destined Rivals set, along with other recent releases like Prismatic Evolutions and the Blooming Waters box. These issues have been exacerbated by product shortages, problematic pre-orders, and the actions of scalpers, making it increasingly difficult for fans to get their hands on these coveted cards.

In their statement, The Pokémon Company (TPC) expressed understanding and empathy for fans who have struggled to purchase these products due to overwhelming demand. "We understand this inconvenience can be disappointing for fans, and we are actively working to print more of the impacted Pokémon TCG products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity to address this," TPC stated. They reassured fans that reprints of these popular sets are on the way and should be available at participating retailers soon.

Looking forward, TPC is committed to improving the situation by maximizing production for future TCG expansions to ensure better product availability right from launch. They also plan to continue reprinting affected products to maintain stock levels, including at the Pokémon Center. This strategy aims to make the Pokémon TCG more accessible to fans, reducing the frustration caused by product shortages.

Addressing the issue of scalpers indirectly, The Pokémon Company emphasized its dedication to providing a seamless purchasing experience at the Pokémon Center. They utilize technology, such as virtual queues during high-traffic periods, to prioritize getting products into the hands of fans. "We will continue to explore measures that help create the best possible experience for Pokémon Center customers," the company affirmed, thanking the community for their ongoing support and patience as they strive to deliver more Pokémon TCG products to fans.

With these assurances, fans can hopefully look forward to a smoother experience when collecting and playing with the Pokémon TCG, making the excitement of new set releases less stressful and more enjoyable.
