Pokémon TCG Pocket Adds Trading Feature and New Expansion This Month

Author : Daniel May 04,2025

If you've been eagerly awaiting the release of the upcoming trading feature for Pokémon TCG Pocket, you won't have to wait much longer. Mark your calendars for January 29th, as that's when the trading feature will launch. And if that's not enough excitement for you, a brand-new expansion called Space-Time Smackdown will hit the game on January 30th, just the next day!

Trading in Pokémon TCG Pocket is straightforward—you'll be able to swap certain rarities of cards with friends, much like you would in person. To make these trades, you'll need to use trade hourglasses and trade tokens, adding an intriguing layer to the game that promises to enhance the authentic feel of the iconic physical card collector experience.

As for the Space-Time Smackdown expansion, it's set to bring fan-favorite cards into Pokémon TCG Pocket. Pokémon from the beloved Sinnoh region will make their debut, and you can look forward to two new digital booster packs featuring the legendary Pokémon Dialga and Palkia.

Smack in the face Meanwhile, if legendary Pokémon aren't your thing, you'll be thrilled to see other favorites like Lucario and the Sinnoh region's starting trio: Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup. These cards will be available through the Wonder Pick feature as well as traditional booster packs.

I have no doubt that this update will be a hit, especially with the addition of long-awaited Pokémon to the roster. However, there have been some discussions about how trading will work. Here's hoping the promise of continual tweaks to that feature will ensure everything runs smoothly.

If you're eager to dive into Pokémon TCG Pocket for the first time ahead of this new update, or if you've been away for a while, why not refresh your skills by checking out our list of the best decks for Pokémon TCG Pocket?
