The Pokemon Company Issues Statement on Pokemon TCG Prismatic Evolutions Shortage

Summary

  • The Pokemon Company has acknowledged shortages of the Scarlet and Violet — Prismatic Evolutions set and thanked Pokemon TCG fans for their patience.
  • Reprints of Prismatic Evolutions products are currently in production and will soon be available through licensed distributors.

The Pokemon Company has taken a significant step by addressing the widespread shortages of the highly anticipated Scarlet and Violet — Prismatic Evolutions set. In a recent statement, they expressed gratitude to fans for their patience and outlined measures to tackle the supply issues. This is the first time the company has publicly acknowledged the challenges faced with this expansion.

Prismatic Evolutions, announced in early November 2024, was set to invigorate the Pokemon TCG community with its international release on January 17, 2025. However, like many new releases, it quickly encountered global shortages, impacting fans in regions including the United States.

Responding to the outcry on social media, The Pokemon Company released a statement to IGN, acknowledging the difficulties in obtaining the new products. "We understand this inconvenience can be disappointing for fans, and we are actively working to print more of the impacted Pokemon TCG products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity to address this," a company representative explained.

Pokemon TCG Prismatic Evolutions Reprints Are Coming Soon

Efforts to mitigate the shortages are underway, with reprints of Prismatic Evolutions currently in production. These are expected to reach licensed distributors soon, although no specific timeline was provided. While some have pointed fingers at scalpers, The Pokemon Company attributes the shortages to "high demand" without further elaboration.

More Pokemon TCG Prismatic Evolutions Products Are Also on the Horizon

In addition to the reprints, The Pokemon Company announced that new Prismatic Evolutions products will soon be available. These were initially mentioned during the set's announcement in November 2024. Upcoming releases include a Mini Tin and Surprise Box debuting on February 7, followed by a Booster Bundle and Accessory Pouch Special Collection on March 7 and April 25, respectively. The Prismatic Evolutions Super-Premium Collection is slated for May 16, with a Premium Figure Collection arriving on September 26. Fans eager to get their hands on the new cards can start earning them through the Battle Pass in the Pokemon TCG Live mobile game, available from January 16.
