Pokémon Go Tour: Unova Global Debuts Black and White Kyurem with New Adventure Effects

Author : Benjamin May 03,2025

The legendary Pokémon, Black Kyurem and White Kyurem, are set to make their much-anticipated debut during the Pokémon Go Tour: Unova – Global event. These powerful creatures bring with them unique Adventure Effects that can enhance your Pokémon catching experience outside of battle. To maximize your rewards, make sure to utilize the Tour Pass.

Black Kyurem’s signature move, Freeze Shock, envelops wild Pokémon in electrically charged ice for 10 minutes, immobilizing them and making them significantly easier to catch. On the other hand, White Kyurem’s Ice Burn slows down the target ring during encounters, facilitating the execution of Excellent Throws. Both effects can be extended in 10-minute increments, up to two hours at a time, with a total extension limit of 24 hours.

During the event, you can challenge Black Kyurem and White Kyurem in five-star raids to earn Fusion Energy. This energy allows you to fuse Zekrom or Reshiram with a Kyurem that knows Glaciate. Upon fusion, Freeze Shock or Ice Burn will replace Glaciate. These moves will revert to Glaciate once the Pokémon are separated. Note that Kyurem cannot learn these moves through Charged TM or Elite Charged TM at the moment.

Pokémon Go Tour: Unova – Global Event

You'll have the opportunity to choose between two event badges: the Black Version, featuring Reshiram, or the White Version, showcasing Zekrom. If you opt for the Black Version, Kyurem encountered after defeating Black Kyurem will know Glaciate, and you'll receive Reshiram-themed Special Research rewards. Choosing the White Version will grant you Zekrom-themed Special Research rewards, with Kyurem encountered post-defeat of White Kyurem also knowing Glaciate.

To enhance your event experience, leverage the Tour Pass, which unlocks additional rewards and amplifies your Adventure Effects. You can accumulate Tour Points by catching Pokémon, participating in raids, and hatching Eggs. Alternatively, you can expedite your progress with quick Pass Tasks. Reaching Major Milestones will boost your Catch XP and extend the duration of either Freeze Shock or Ice Burn.

For the ultimate event experience, consider upgrading to the Tour Pass Deluxe. This premium version offers immediate encounters with Victini, more event-themed encounters, an exclusive avatar item, and the new Lucky Trinket. The Lucky Trinket, a one-time-use item, allows you to become Lucky Friends with someone on your Friend List, significantly enhancing your next trade.

The Pokémon Go Tour: Unova – Global event will run from February 24th to March 2nd, providing ample opportunity to engage with these exciting new features and rewards.
