Mikami and Suda Hint at Killer7 Sequel and Remaster
Killer11 or Killer7: Beyond?
During a recent Grasshopper Direct, Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil) and Goichi "Suda51" Suda discussed the possibility of both a Killer7 sequel and a complete edition of the game. The focus was on the upcoming Shadows of the Damned remaster, but the conversation shifted to future projects. Mikami openly stated his desire for a Killer7 sequel, calling it a personal favorite.
Suda51 shared Mikami's enthusiasm, suggesting a sequel might happen someday. He even tossed around potential titles like "Killer11" or "Killer7: Beyond."
Killer7, a 2005 action-adventure game for GameCube and PlayStation 2, blends horror, mystery, and Suda51's signature over-the-top style. The game follows Harman Smith, a man with seven distinct personalities, each with unique abilities. Despite its cult following, a sequel has remained elusive. Even after the 2018 PC remaster, Suda51 voiced interest in revisiting his original vision.
Suda51 proposed a "Complete Edition" of Killer7, an idea Mikami playfully dismissed. However, the discussion revealed that the original game's vision included significantly more dialogue for the character Coyote, which could be restored in a complete edition.
The prospect of a sequel or complete edition has energized fans. While no official announcements have been made, the developers' excitement has generated significant buzz.
Mikami suggested a Complete Edition would be well-received, to which Suda51 replied that they'd need to decide between "Killer7: Beyond" and the Complete Edition first.
