Revealed during Sony's February 2025 State of Play event, the Splitgate 2 Open Alpha Playtest opened its doors from February 27 to March 3, 2025. Unlike the PC-exclusive Closed Alpha of 2024, this public testing phase welcomed players across PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms.

The inaugural Closed Alpha for Splitgate 2 wrapped up on August 25, 2024 after launching August 21st. Access was restricted to invited testers and participants who secured Alpha keys through either:
