Top Spring 2025 Anime Recommendations
I've highlighted The Apothecary Diaries, Once Upon A Witch’s Death, The Beginning After The End, To Be Hero X, and WITCH WATCH in my roundup of Spring 2025 anime dubs coming to Crunchyroll, but there are some great additional picks that should be on your watch list from the list above too.
Devil May Cry is Netflix's latest foray into animated video game adaptations. With a trailer featuring Limp Bizkit and a newly composed Evanescence track, it's clear the creators understand the tone needed to captivate their audience. Netflix has had mixed results with anime and game IPs, but with creator Adi Shankar, known for Castlevania and Guardians of Justice, and Studio Mir, behind Avatar: The Last Airbender and Korra, this series promises to deliver. Even if you're new to the Devil May Cry universe, fans of Trigun will enjoy Dante's edgy mercenary adventures.
In Moonrise, the moon fights for independence, a concept that might make the creators of Moonfall wish they had thought of it first. With animation from WIT Studio (Attack On Titan, Vinland Saga), character designs by Hiromu Arakawa (Fullmetal Alchemist), and direction by Masashi Koizuka (Attack On Titan Seasons 2 & 3), this ONA is set to be something special despite the limited story details currently available.
Lastly, YAIBA: Samurai Legends brings back the beloved series from the late 1980s, created by Gosho Aoyama of Case Closed fame. Following Yaiba Kurogane's comedic samurai adventures against a demon army, this series is the second anime adaptation and features Aoyama's direct involvement in production. If you enjoy the style of Detective Conan mixed with the humor of early Dragon Ball and historical Japanese cameos, this is a must-watch.
