Tony Hawk Aims for Underground Remake

Author : Isaac May 29,2025

If you've been longing for a return to the iconic Tony Hawk's Underground, you're not alone—Tony himself is "campaigning" for a remake.

"I always have aspirations," Hawk told ScreenRant. "It's not up to me generally. I'll campaign all I can, but I'm working with a much bigger company that's a lot smarter than me."

When asked if Activision had hinted at what might come next after Pro Skate 3 + 4 is released, Hawk remained tight-lipped. "We haven't even released this game [yet]!" he replied.

Tony Hawk's Underground debuted in 2003, earning an impressive 9.2 review score from us thanks to its "virtually flawless" level design and "stellar gameplay." For the first time in the series, players were able to disembark their boards and explore expansive levels on foot.

PlayTony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 is set to launch on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, and Xbox One on July 11, 2025. Activision is curating the official THPS 3 + 4 playlist on Spotify and regularly updating it as more songs are revealed—check out the latest in our comprehensive soundtrack list.

"In a time when it feels like every early 2000s game is getting a modern makeover, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is shaping up to be a welcome addition to a year brimming with fantastic remakes and remasters," we noted in IGN's Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 first impressions preview.

"From its faithful recreation of what made the PS2-era classics so memorable, to its modern quality-of-life improvements, excellent soundtrack, and heartfelt tribute to the series' early days, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is definitely something you should keep an eye on if you're a fan of skateboarding, enjoy action sports games, or simply want to play something that's straightforward and fun. It might just be the easiest kickflip you'll land this year."
