Okawara's most iconic contribution to the genre is his work on the original Gundam, in collaboration with writer Yoshiyuki Tomino. This instantly recognizable mascot of the real robot genre has appeared in numerous series over the years and even featured in blockbuster Hollywood films like Ready Player One.

Soon, you'll have the opportunity to pilot an original creation by Kunio Okawara—the SWORD Unit 190, developed in-universe by the DSC Corporation. Okawara has also designed the optional drones and plasma guns that you can equip to this formidable unit.

Real steelYou'll need to wait a bit before getting your hands on the new SWORD unit. However, it's set to take a starring role in the upcoming MECHA Raider S.W.O.R.D event, running from May 20th to June 1st. This event promises a full throwback to the real robot genre, celebrating its rich history and influence.

It's no surprise that the War Robots team chose to collaborate with Okawara. Even if you're not familiar with his previous work, this new design is sure to be an exciting and vibrant addition to your arsenal.
