Summary
- Microsoft has unveiled the first wave of new titles coming to Xbox Game Pass in January 2025, featuring Road 96, My Time at Sandrock, and Diablo.
- Six games, including Exoprimal and Those Who Remain, are set to leave the service this month.
Microsoft has revealed its first Xbox Game Pass lineup of 2025. While leaks and rumors had offered some hints about January's offerings, players now have official confirmation of what's arriving and departing. Though 2025 is only a week old, it's shaping up to be another exciting year for Game Pass subscribers.
While this is Xbox's first new-game announcement for the year, it's not the first 2025 update for the subscription service. Microsoft had previously announced significant changes coming to Xbox Game Pass, including age restrictions and adjustments to the rewards system. Many of these updates are already live, coinciding perfectly with this initial batch of new titles.

On January 7, 2025, Microsoft announced seven games joining Xbox Game Pass via the official Xbox blog. One title—the 2021 narrative adventure Road 96—is available immediately for all Game Pass tiers, including PC Game Pass. The game had been on the service before but departed in June 2023. Its return was announced in December 2024 alongside several other upcoming titles. The remaining six games in the January lineup will arrive later, mostly on January 8, with two following on January 14.
New Games Coming to Xbox Game Pass in January 2025
- Road 96 (Available now as of January 7)
- Lightyear Frontier (Preview) (Available January 8)
- My Time at Sandrock (Available January 8)
- Robin Hood – Sherwood Builders (Available January 8)
- Rolling Hills (Available January 8)
- UFC 5 (Available January 14)
- Diablo (Available January 14)
Earlier leaks about Diablo and UFC 5 joining Xbox Game Pass have now been confirmed, with official release dates provided. However, access to these two games is tier-specific: Diablo will be exclusive to Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members, while UFC 5 will be available only to Ultimate subscribers. All other titles in the lineup, including the early-access sci-fi game Lightyear Frontier, are included with a standard Game Pass subscription.
A selection of new Game Pass Ultimate perks also became available starting January 7. These include an Apex Legends weapon charm and DLC packs for First Descendant, Vigor, and Metaball. Of course, a new influx of games also means some titles are rotating out. Updates to the Xbox app had already hinted at the six games leaving Xbox Game Pass on January 15, and Microsoft has now made it official. The departing titles are:
- Common'hood
- Escape Academy
- Exoprimal
- Figment
- Insurgency: Sandstorm
- Those Who Remain
All these announcements cover only the first half of January, so Xbox fans should keep an eye out for what's next. The announcement for the second half of January 2025 and beyond is likely just around the corner.
