BioWare has largely shifted focus away from Dragon Age: The Veilguard, yet the remaining development team surprised fans by quietly introducing a new DLC weapon pack.
The RPG's community was taken aback when Steam listings revealed the free Rook's Weapons Appearance Offer yesterday. While modest in scope, this unexpected content drop comes as a pleasant surprise given EA's previous indications that The Veilguard would receive minimal future support. After the game's fifth patch in January confirmed updates would primarily address critical bugs, any new content - however small - feels like a welcome bonus.

Curiously, the Rook's Weapons bundle is exclusively available to current owners and new PC purchasers until April 8, 2025. Though no official details explain the bundle's contents, community investigations reveal it unlocks a collection of Watchful weapon skins accessible in the Rook's quarters. Availability for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions remains uncertain.
"These skins might not win beauty contests," noted one Steam reviewer, "but they deliver perfect eldritch horror aesthetics!"
"It's cosmetic DLC, but essentially free content for a game not receiving major updates," commented a Reddit user. "I'll absolutely take it."
The Veilguard received critical acclaim upon its October launch, though EA confirmed it failed to "achieve broad audience appeal." By late January, key developers announced departures as BioWare underwent restructuring with staff reassignments and layoffs. EA informed IGN the studio would concentrate entirely on the next Mass Effect installment.
Four months post-launch, The Veilguard became part of March 2025's PlayStation Plus offerings. No additional development plans have been disclosed.
