"Oblivion Remastered Ranks 3rd in U.S. Game Sales for 2025"

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered has taken the gaming world by storm, cementing its status as a major hit in 2025. Just one week after its surprise release on April 22, the game has soared to become the third best-selling title in the U.S., trailing only behind Monster Hunter: Wilds and Assassin’s Creed: Shadows. This achievement is even more remarkable given that Oblivion Remastered was also made available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and through Microsoft's Game Pass.

The game's peak concurrent player count on Steam reached an impressive 216,784, reflecting its widespread appeal. According to Circana’s Mat Piscatella, the sales figures for Oblivion Remastered are based on dollar sales and do not include subscribers of Game Pass, highlighting the game's significant commercial success.

Developed by the renowned remake specialists at Virtuos using Unreal Engine 5, Oblivion Remastered boasts a host of visual and gameplay enhancements. Players can enjoy 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, along with upgraded leveling systems, character creation, combat animations, and in-game menus. The remaster also features new dialogue, a refined third-person view, and advanced lip sync technology. These changes have been so substantial that some fans argue it should be considered a remake rather than a remaster, a sentiment Bethesda has addressed by explaining their choice to label it a remaster.

The success of Oblivion Remastered has sparked speculation about future remasters from Bethesda. Rumors suggest that either Fallout 3 or Fallout: New Vegas could be next. Bruce Nesmith, a designer on Fallout 3, has hinted at what fans might expect from a Fallout 3 Remastered. He noted that the gun combat in the original Fallout 3 was "not good" and anticipated significant improvements akin to those seen in Fallout 4. Nesmith emphasized the evolution of combat mechanics from Fallout 3 to Fallout 4, suggesting that a remastered version would bring Fallout 3's shooting mechanics more in line with modern standards.

Nesmith also praised the extensive updates in Oblivion Remastered, comparing it favorably to the most recent graphics update for Skyrim and even dubbing it "Oblivion 2.0" due to its impressive enhancements.

Amidst this flurry of activity, Bethesda is also busy with other projects, including The Elder Scrolls VI and potential expansions for Starfield, alongside ongoing work on Fallout 76 and the upcoming second season of the Fallout TV show set in New Vegas. Fans have much to look forward to in the coming years.
