Capcom Addresses Monster Hunter Wilds PC Demands

Author : Blake Oct 05,2025

As Monster Hunter Wilds approaches its February 28 launch, Capcom is reportedly reassessing its recommended GPU specifications.

The developer's German Monster Hunter X/Twitter account confirmed this effort while also disclosing plans to potentially release a standalone PC benchmarking utility.

For 1080p gameplay at 30 FPS, Capcom currently advises using an Nvidia GTX 1660 Super or AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT. These minimum specifications require rendering at 720p internally before applying DLSS or FSR upscaling on the "lowest" graphical preset.

The recommended configuration targets 60 FPS at 1080p with upscaling and frame generation enabled, suggesting GPUs like the RTX 2070 Super, RTX 4060, or AMD RX 6700 XT. Notably, only the RTX 4060 natively supports Nvidia's Frame Generation technology, while the others must utilize FSR 3 (which exhibited ghosting artifacts during the previous beta test).

Using frame generation to reach 60 FPS may not be optimal, as industry analysts suggest a minimum of 40 FPS provides better responsiveness in third-person action games. Performance below this threshold with upscaling enabled could result in noticeable input lag.

During beta testing, even mid-range GPUs such as the RTX 3060 struggled with performance issues. Players encountered a LOD (Level of Detail) glitch where high-resolution textures failed to load properly for characters and creatures.

Built on Capcom's RE Engine (first introduced with Resident Evil 7), Monster Hunter Wilds follows successful titles like Devil May Cry 5 and Street Fighter 6 that demonstrated the engine's cross-platform capabilities.

However, recent open-world RE Engine titles featuring numerous NPCs, like Dragon's Dogma 2, have faced optimization challenges - raising concerns about Wilds' performance. With the open beta scheduled for early February and full release later that month, Capcom's efforts to optimize GPU requirements could significantly impact the game's PC reception.
