7 Days To Die: Mastering Infested Clear Missions for Epic Loot and XP
7 Days To Die offers diverse mission types, but infested missions stand out for their difficulty and rewarding payouts. This guide covers everything you need to know to conquer these challenging encounters.
Starting an Infested Clear Mission
To begin, visit one of the five traders (Rekt, Jen, Bob, Hugh, or Joe). Mission difficulty scales with tier; higher tiers mean tougher enemies and locations. Biome also impacts enemy types – expect more ferals in the Wasteland than the forest.
Infested missions unlock at Tier 2, requiring completion of 10 Tier 1 missions. Prepare for a significant increase in zombie numbers and tougher variants like radiated zombies, cops, and ferals. Tier 6 missions are the ultimate test, but by then, you should be well-equipped. The objective remains consistent across all tiers: eliminate all enemies within a designated area.
Completing an Infested Clear Mission
Upon reaching the Point of Interest (POI), activate the mission marker. Leaving the area or dying results in mission failure. The game often guides players down a specific, often treacherous path. Avoid this! Use alternative routes to bypass traps and surprise enemies.
Carry building blocks to escape traps or create unexpected flanking maneuvers. Watch for red dots on your screen; size indicates proximity to zombies. Focus headshots for efficient kills, but be aware of special zombie abilities:
Zombie Type | Abilities | Countermeasures |
---|---|---|
Cops | Spit toxic vomit, explode when injured | Observe their pre-spit head-throw, use cover, maintain distance. |
Spiders | Jump long distances | Listen for their screech before they jump, land quick headshots. |
Screamers | Summon other zombies | Prioritize eliminating them to prevent overwhelming hordes. |
Demolition Zombies | Carry explosive packages | Avoid hitting their chest; if the explosive beeps, run! |
The final room holds the best loot, but also the largest concentration of zombies. Ensure you're fully healed, armed, and know the escape route before entering.
Once all zombies are eliminated, report back to the trader for your reward. Don't forget the infested cache – a bonus loot container often containing valuable supplies.
Infested Clear Mission Rewards
Rewards are randomized but influenced by game stage, loot stage (boosted by the Lucky Looter skill and Treasure Hunter mod), mission tier, and skill point allocation.
Investing in the "A Daring Adventurer" perk is crucial. It increases Duke rewards and, at rank 4, allows selecting two rewards instead of one. This significantly improves the chances of obtaining rare items like solar cells, crucibles, or legendary parts.
After claiming rewards, sell any unwanted items to the trader for additional XP (1 XP per Duke).
