Concord: A Hero Shooter with a Post-Launch Roadmap
Sony and Firewalk Studios have unveiled Concord's post-launch content plan, confirming a steady stream of updates starting August 23rd (PS5 and PC). The game eschews the typical battle pass model, focusing instead on rewarding players through gameplay progression and completing in-game objectives.
Concord's Development Roadmap
Game director Ryan Ellis emphasizes a commitment to ongoing support: "Launch is just the beginning." Seasonal updates will introduce new characters, maps, game modes, storylines, and features.
Season 1: The Tempest (October 2024)
Season 1, titled "The Tempest," will feature:
- A new Freegunner character.
- A fresh map.
- New Freegunner Variants.
- Expanded cosmetics and rewards.
- Weekly Cinematic Vignettes to enrich the Northstar crew's narrative.
- An in-game store offering purely cosmetic items, ensuring fair gameplay.
Season 2 and Beyond
Season 2 is scheduled for January 2025, promising continued seasonal content drops throughout Concord's first year.
Strategic Gameplay and Team Building
Ellis highlights the "Crew Builder" system: Customize your five-Freegunner team, with the option to include up to three copies of a Freegunner's Variant. This allows strategic team composition based on playstyle and match challenges. Mixing Freegunners from different roles (Anchor, Breacher, Haunt, Ranger, Tactician, and Warden) unlocks Crew Bonuses, enhancing mobility, weapon accuracy, and cooldowns. Unlike traditional roles, Concord's Freegunners are designed for high damage output and direct combat. The six roles instead emphasize area control, long-range advantage, and flanking tactics.
