"Dead Cells' Last Updates Delayed to Early Next Year"

Author : Anthony May 26,2025

In a recent announcement, developer Playdigious shared some bittersweet news for mobile gamers: the final two free updates for the acclaimed roguelike Dead Cells have been delayed. However, there's a silver lining as the updates, Clean Cut and The End is Near, are now scheduled to arrive on mobile devices on February 18th, 2025. Let's dive into what these updates have in store for fans of the game.

For those already familiar with the console and PC versions of Dead Cells, you'll be pleased to know what's coming. The Clean Cut update introduces two exciting new weapons: the Survival-focused Sewing Scissors and the Brutality-focused Giant Comb. Additionally, you'll encounter a new NPC, the Tailor's Daughter, who allows you to customize your character's head appearance, adding a personal touch to your gameplay experience.

On the other hand, The End is Near update brings a darker tone with the introduction of new mobs such as the Sore Loser, Curser, and Doom Bringer. This update also includes a variety of new skills and colorblind-friendly mutations, like Demonic Strength, which increases your damage output by 30% when cursed, with an additional 1% per Curse stack. These additions promise to shake up the gameplay and offer fresh challenges for even the most seasoned players.

Dead Cells: All the Cells You Can HandlePlaydigious has consistently delivered substantial free content updates for Dead Cells over the years, earning them both praise and, more recently, some criticism upon announcing the end of these updates. The studio's decision to shift focus to other projects is understandable, especially given their track record of enriching the Dead Cells experience.

Mark your calendars for February 18th, 2025, as both Clean Cut and The End is Near will be available simultaneously on Android and iOS. In the meantime, if you're new to Dead Cells, welcome aboard!
