Second Dinner Switches from Nuverse to Skystone Games for Marvel Snap Publishing

Author : Anthony May 17,2025

In a significant shift within the gaming industry, Second Dinner, the developer behind the popular game Marvel Snap, has officially severed its ties with Nuverse, its former publisher. This move comes after a tumultuous period triggered by Bytedance's TikTok-related strategies, which led to Marvel Snap being abruptly removed from app stores. Second Dinner announced on their official Twitter that they have now partnered with the US-based publisher Skystone Games, marking a new chapter for the game.

This development is the culmination of a series of dramatic events affecting various titles published by Nuverse and other Bytedance subsidiaries, including Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Marvel Snap. The turmoil began when Bytedance's actions in response to the TikTok ban led to the unexpected withdrawal of these games from app stores. Then president-elect Donald Trump had promised to restore service, reversing his earlier stance on banning Bytedance's flagship app. While TikTok quickly returned without significant issues, other games faced prolonged disruptions. Second Dinner, in particular, was left in the dark about Marvel Snap's removal and has been working diligently over the past few weeks to reinstate the game.

Avengers disassembledGiven these circumstances, it's hardly surprising that Second Dinner chose to part ways with Nuverse. Bytedance's focus on salvaging TikTok may have inadvertently undermined their gaming ventures, a sentiment echoed by Second Dinner. The swift transition to Skystone Games suggests that Nuverse might be grappling with significant repercussions from other developers as well.

While it's easy to delve into the geopolitical implications, it's more relevant to consider whether Bytedance's efforts to preserve TikTok have compromised their ambitions in the gaming sector. Second Dinner's decision certainly points in that direction.
