In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, early side quests in Tachov and Zhelejov offer a choice between aiding Prochek or Olbram. This guide details both questlines ("Mice" and "Frogs"), exploring whether you can help both and which choice is preferable.
Can You Help Both?
While Tachov and Zhelejov are at odds, completing most quests for both Prochek and Olbram is possible. This provides a richer understanding of both settlements' backstories. However, a fully favorable outcome for both isn't achievable.
Prochek vs. Olbram: Which to Choose?
Ultimately, choosing between Prochek and Olbram is largely a matter of preference. Both aim to sabotage the other; the decision comes down to personal enjoyment of the tasks.
Olbram's quest involves a nighttime maypole theft, requiring stealth and potentially charm to distract the guard. Prochek's quest demands painting Olbram's bull blue, necessitating dye from the tailor and a lullaby potion recipe from Radovan (requiring either apprenticeship or high Speech).
Prochek's task presents a slightly higher difficulty, especially early in the game, due to potential groschen and Speech skill requirements. Olbram's quest might be easier for less experienced players.
Prochek's "Mice" Quest:
Speak to Prochek (located in Tachov, or inquire at the inn if you can't find him). This initiates the "Mice" quest.
Obtaining Dye and Lullaby Potion:
Purchase dye from Bartoshek, the tailor in Troskowitz. For the lullaby potion, either work for Radovan (Tachov blacksmith) or charm him for the recipe (oil, poppy, thistle – found near Troskowitz apothecary). Brew the potion, administer it to the bull in Zhelejov, paint the bull, and report back to Prochek.
Olbram's "Frogs" Quest:
Find Olbram near Zhelejov's meadow. Agreeing to retrieve the maypole starts the "Frogs" quest.
Stealing the Maypole:
Proceed to Tachov at night. Henrik guards the maypole. You can knock him out or (with sufficient Speech) charm him into leaving by arranging a date with Manka (at the inn). Once Henrik leaves, obtain the maypole.
Returning to Olbram completes this phase. He'll then request chasing sheep from Tachov's pasture and delivering a digestive potion to Alshik.
You can choose to complete this, or inform Prochek of Olbram's plan, concluding both quests.
This covers the "Mice" and "Frogs" quests. Further Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 guides on The Escapist offer additional tips, such as whether to kill Jakesh and optimal perk choices.
