Hungry Horrors is a new roguelite deckbuilder from UK-based Clumsy Bear Studio with a quirky premise—instead of battling monsters, you cook for them to satisfy their appetites. A playable demo for Hungry Horrors is now available on Steam.
Following its PC launch, Clumsy Bear Studio plans to bring Hungry Horrors to mobile and consoles. While an official release date hasn’t been announced, players can try the demo on Steam, Itch, or GOG. The developers have actively participated in community showcases, including the London Game Festival 2025.
The Steam demo provides a solid first look at the game. It features two handcrafted biomes, six hungry monsters to serve, two boss encounters, and four NPCs to interact with. There are also non-combat areas such as The Nook and The Trove where players can regroup and refine their menus.

More About Hungry Horrors
You play as a princess whose mission is to prepare traditional British and Irish dishes to appease menacing folklore creatures—or risk becoming their next meal. This title cleverly mixes deckbuilding mechanics with culinary creativity.
With its retro pixel art and gothic style, the game stands out for its quirky humor. You'll prepare dishes such as Bara Brith and Cranachan, aiming to satisfy each monster’s specific—and often picky—tastes.
Many of the creatures featured are timeless figures of folklore terror. For instance, there’s Jenny Greenteeth, the swamp witch with a thirst for blood. Or Black Annis, a hag who snatches children with iron claws. If your cooking fails to impress, you could end up on their menu instead.
Learning each monster’s likes and dislikes is key. You’ll meet legendary beings like Grendel and Redcap, each with unusual cravings—one might adore sweets, while another might despise fish.
The deckbuilding system is engaging and strategic. You’ll combine ingredients and use tools like spices and herbs to enhance your meals. Success depends on carefully balancing flavors and planning your dishes ahead of time.
As you advance, you'll unlock new recipes, ingredients, legendary artifacts, and rescued familiars. Visit the official Steam page to learn more and try the demo.
