Harassment Concerns Surrounding Monster Hunter Wilds
CEDEC 2025 Optimization Session Cancelled

The Monster Hunter Wilds development team was scheduled to present a game optimization lecture at the upcoming Computer Entertainment Developers Conference 2025 (CEDEC 2025) in Yokohama, Japan. However, Capcom cancelled the presentation due to ongoing harassment directed at the studio. According to Automaton's July 7 report, the company officially called off the lecture without disclosing specific reasons.
The planned presentation, titled "Making Monster Hunter Wilds Run Smoothly! Everything You Need to Know About Optimization," would have covered techniques for ensuring stable performance and achieving higher frame rates. Key discussion points included managing CPU and GPU workloads along with optimizing memory usage.
Capcom likely cancelled the session to prevent further online incidents, as the harassment primarily stems from criticism regarding the game's optimization problems.
Continued Online Harassment Over Performance Issues
Since the game's release, players have consistently expressed concerns about optimization, particularly for the PC version. Recent player feedback has become increasingly aggressive following the game's "Overwhelmingly Negative" review status on Steam, which Capcom has officially acknowledged.
In a July 4 Twitter (X) post, Capcom outlined their plans to address stability issues based on player feedback. These measures include fixing bugs introduced in Title Update 2, reducing CPU and VRAM usage, and implementing various stability enhancements.

Additionally, the company addressed harassment concerns through an official website statement on July 4. Capcom emphasized their commitment to valuing customer feedback while improving their games. However, they noted increasing instances of threats, slander, and harassment across various review platforms and social media.
In response, the company has activated its "Customer Harassment Response Guidelines." Capcom stated, "Following the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare's 'Customer Harassment Countermeasures Corporate Manual,' we reserve the right to deny support or services when behaviors exceed socially acceptable boundaries."

The company further warned that severe cases could lead to legal action and criminal proceedings. Prohibited behaviors include slander, defamation, personal attacks, insults, threats of violence, business disruption threats, and other unacceptable conduct.
Beyond these protective measures, Capcom remains dedicated to improving Monster Hunter Wilds through regular updates. During the July 7 Annual General Meeting, shareholders raised concerns about "insufficient content volume and optimization issues" in recent game releases.

Capcom assured shareholders that development teams are carefully analyzing user reviews and feedback. The company stated, "We are committed to enhancing user satisfaction through future updates and will continue taking appropriate actions."
Despite Monster Hunter Wilds being Capcom's fastest-selling game to date, its current challenges could impact its long-term success. Monster Hunter Wilds is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For the latest updates on Monster Hunter Wilds, check out our related article below.
