The developer has announced a three-month delay for Lost Soul Aside, moving its release from May 30 to August 29, 2025.
After nearly a decade in development, the single-player action title for PC and PlayStation 5 was finally set to launch next month. However, a statement from Ultizero Games explained the shift to late August, citing the need for additional polish.
"We are deeply grateful for the positive feedback from players worldwide since announcing Lost Soul Aside," Ultizero Games stated.
"Our commitment to delivering a high-quality gaming experience remains unwavering. To meet the standards we've set at Ultizero Games, we are dedicating more time to refine the game. The new release date for Lost Soul Aside is August 29, 2025. We sincerely thank our fans for their patience and continued support."
What began as a passion project by solo developer Yang Bing has evolved into a major Sony-published title under the China Hero Project initiative. Bing now serves as the founder and CEO of Shanghai-based Ultizero Games.
IGN recently spoke with Yang Bing about the game's lengthy development journey. Lost Soul Aside's creation spanned many years, growing from a single developer's vision to a featured trailer in Sony's State of Play presentation. Throughout this period, anticipation has steadily grown, with many praising the game as an intriguing fusion of Final Fantasy-inspired characters and Devil May Cry-style combat—ever since Bing's initial reveal video went viral back in 2016.
Players control protagonist Kesar, who wields a shape-shifting weapon that alters gameplay style when switched. Accompanying him is Arena, a dragon-like companion capable of summoning supportive abilities for Kesar.
Drawing inspiration from its influences, Lost Soul Aside focuses on aerial evasion, precise timing, combo attacks, and countering mechanics, alongside epic boss battles. The game merges sci-fi elements with diverse contemporary aesthetics within a campaign that traverses multiple dimensions. While story details remain elusive from trailers, Bing describes Kesar's adventure as a journey of "redemption and discovery."
