Freedom Wars Remastered: A Deep Dive into Weapon Types

Freedom Wars Remastered allows players to equip two weapons of their choice for each operation, offering diverse strategic options. With six distinct weapon types available, players can tailor their character to any preferred playstyle. The three melee and three ranged weapon types all boast customizable features, and some offer unique charged attack effects. Weapon acquisition is achieved through operation completion or purchase from Zakka in The Warren. While comrade weapon choices are fixed, accessories are fully customizable, and changing weapons incurs no penalties.

Here's a breakdown of each weapon type:

Weapon Type Traits
Light Melee Quick attacks ideal for swift combat and single-target engagements. Can sever Abductor limbs without a Flare Knife.
Heavy Melee Wide-sweeping attacks delivering substantial damage. Well-timed attacks can hit multiple Abductor limbs for amplified damage. Charged attacks launch the player into the air. Slightly reduces movement speed.
Polearm Attacks involve charging through enemies, providing mobility and evasion. Charged attacks launch the polearm for significant damage from a distance.
Assault Weapons High ammo capacity, perfect for gun-centric builds. Can be fired while grappled with your Thorne for tactical advantage.
Portable Artillery High single-shot damage but limited ammo. Explosive area-of-effect shots can hit multiple limbs for increased damage. Reduces movement speed.
Autocannons High rate of fire with ample ammo and magazine size. Individual shots have lower damage, compensated by rapid firing. Reduces movement speed.

Note: Accessories using ranged weapons are not subject to ammo limitations.
