Monster Hunter Wilds: Capcom Optimizes Performance, Aims to Lower GPU Requirements
Capcom is actively enhancing Monster Hunter Wilds' performance and aiming to reduce its GPU requirements before the game's official release. This follows feedback from the initial beta test.

Addressing Performance Concerns:
A recent announcement on the German Monster Hunter Twitter (X) account (January 19, 2025) highlighted performance improvements. A video showcasing smoother gameplay during a Quematrice hunt demonstrated the enhanced Prioritize Framerate mode on PS5. Similar optimizations are underway for the PC version, with a focus on lowering the GPU demands. The tweet stated a goal of reducing recommended GPU requirements.

Currently, the minimum GPU requirements are an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super or AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT. Success in lowering these requirements would significantly broaden the game's accessibility.

Furthermore, Capcom plans to release a free benchmarking tool to help players assess their system's compatibility.
Beta Test Feedback and Improvements:
The initial open beta test (October-November 2024) revealed performance issues, including low-poly models and frame rate drops. Capcom acknowledged these problems on November 1, 2024, promising fixes, particularly for afterimage noise. They confirmed these improvements are being implemented.

A second open beta test (February 7-10 and 14-17, 2025) for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam is scheduled, featuring Gypceros and a new monster. Whether these performance enhancements will be fully integrated into the second beta remains to be seen.

The ongoing optimization efforts suggest a smoother, more accessible Monster Hunter Wilds experience is on the horizon.
