Josef Fares, the creative force behind Hazelight Studios, recently shed light on the development of their highly anticipated game, Split Fiction, during an insightful interview. Reaffirming previous commitments, Fares underscored the studio’s dedication to steering clear of live-service elements and microtransactions. Additionally, Hazelight confirmed its independence, with no plans for an IPO or acquisition by larger entities.
"We're staying private. No microtransactions. Our sole focus is creating exceptional gaming experiences," Fares stated firmly.
In conversation with MinnMax, Fares revealed that the main storyline of Split Fiction clocks in at approximately 12-14 hours, similar to the runtime of their critically acclaimed title, It Takes Two. However, with optional missions and supplementary content factored in, players can anticipate a total playtime stretching up to 16-17 hours.
While Hazelight has carved a niche with co-op-centric games, Fares hinted at potential forays into single-player projects down the line. He mentioned that Split Fiction boasts a budget twice that of It Takes Two but avoids post-launch DLC, ensuring all content is accessible upon release. Set to launch worldwide on March 6th, Split Fiction will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
